Parag Khanna, author of The Future is Asian, argues that certain cultural traits that Western analysts have come to view as a “weakness” of many Eastern economies — low market capitalisation and trading volumes — are viewed by Asians as a source of strength: long-term strategic orientation, stability, and even immunity from market pressures.
